Goodwill Funeral Services has unveiled its newest funeral parlour in Lilongwe, marking a significant development in Malawi’s approach to dignified funeral care. Thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of grieving families, the new facility combines comfort and respect in equal measure, offering a serene environment for final farewells.
The parlour’s VIP Lounge provides a private and comfortable space where families can gather, reflect, and receive guests in a serene setting. Thoughtfully designed with elegant furnishings and premium amenities, it offers a dignified atmosphere for moments of remembrance and support. It also houses two elegantly appointed chapels, allowing multiple services to be conducted with the dignity and personal attention they deserve.
Speaking at the official ceremony, Anderson Mankhusu, Managing Director of Goodwill Funeral Services, emphasized the importance of the new facility:
“This new parlour is not just about providing a space, it’s about delivering a service that honors the lives of those we’ve lost. We’ve designed it to offer comfort, privacy, and dignity, knowing how essential these elements are when families come together to say their goodbyes.”
The facility is seamlessly aligned with NICO Life’s Dekhani Funeral Plan, which has been designed to relieve the financial and logistical burdens that often accompany bereavement. The plan offers peace of mind by covering funeral expenses, ensuring that all arrangements are handled directly through Goodwill Funeral Services. It provides comprehensive protection for the policyholder, their spouse, children, and extended family, with a commitment to arranging services within 24 hours of a claim.
In his address at the opening, Chimwemwe Kanyenda, Chief Operating Officer of NICO Life, underscored the importance of providing reliable support during life’s most challenging moments. “At NICO Life, we believe that every family deserves the assurance that, when the time comes, they will be met with empathy and professionalism. This new Goodwill facility exemplifies our commitment to delivering compassionate, dignified care while easing the practical and financial burdens associated with funeral planning. By automatically extending this benefit to Dekhani Funeral Plan holders and MASM members, we are making sure that access to respectful and high-quality services is never compromised” said Kanyenda.
This landmark facility is an automatic benefit for holders of the NICO Life Dekhani Funeral Plan and is also accessible to members of the Medical Aid Society of Malawi (MASM). Kanyenda emphasized that the opening of the new parlour reflects Goodwill’s commitment to offering compassionate and professional funeral services, meeting families’ needs during their most difficult moments.
