NICO CELEBRATES WITH GOLF TOURNEY

One of the country’s conglomerates, NICO Group, commemorated its Golden Jubilee by organising a golf tournament at Limbe Country Club in Blantyre over the weekend.

The tournament, dubbed ‘The ONE Executive Golf Challenge,’ saw top managers of the group’s subsidiaries go head-to-head on the golf course while interacting with customers.

NICO Group Managing Director Vizenge Kumwenda said they organised the tournament to help in building relations among stakeholders.

“We invited stakeholders to be part of our celebration. Our mission in the first 50 years was to enable organisations and individuals to realise their dreams by offering them financial services. We have evolved and developed resilience in the first 50 years. We are a strong company and we are in a position now to continue with the mission

to enable entities and people to realise their dreams. The Covid waves have hit us hard but we are still working towards our objectives as a company, ”Kumwenda said.

NBS Bank Private and Personal Banking Senior Manager Melvin Donga, who was one of the winners, said the corporate world needs more of such activities.

“I was not prepared to play when I came over to this event. But things changed when I started playing. I began to enjoy myself. I am now going home with two trophies and this is exciting.

“We need more of such tournaments throughout the year. They are good for companies in the country as they enhance unity among employees,” Donga said.
